FAQ Questions
1. What if I missed registration? Where do I go to register?
If you missed on-site registration, you can register using the online system. Click on the Register tab on the left side of the web-site and follow the instructions.
2. Why do I need to put my email address when I register?
Your email address provides the club the ability to keep in communications with you through-out the year. You will be notified of camps, registration, or anything that changes within the Quest organization. Coaches have started using the Affinity system to keep in communications with their player’s parents. It is a great tool and gives them another way to keep parents up to date.
3. Who will be the coach of my team?
All coaches are volunteers. They are usually a parent on the team. No experience is necessary to be a coach. The club is run by volunteers and depends on the parents to help coach.
4. What do the registration fees cover?
The fees vary depending on the age group. Every age pays the Baysa fee, field maintenance fee, administration fee, and uniform fee. Older age groups pay a referee fee. Our Academy players play a league fee.
5. What is the refund policy?
Please follow the link below to see the refund policy. Refund Policy
6. What days will my team practice and how many times a week?
Each respective coach within the limitations of field availability determines the team’s practice schedule. Most teams will practice 1-2 days a week, either M/W or Tue/Thu.
7. What does the U stand for in the age groups? And how do I know what age group they will play?
The U means Under. It depends on your kids' birthdates. Whatever the age is after Aug 1 and before July 31, this will determine the age group that they will play in. For example, if the birthdate is Aug 1 (or after) and they turn 9, then they would be playing Under 9 for the season. If the birthdate is July 31 or before and they turn 9, then they would be playing Under 10 age group for the season.
8. Where will games be played and how much playing time will my child have?
All U5 & U6 teams are "In-House" teams that play all of their games at Lambuth Complex. All older teams are traveling teams. Traveling teams play teams of the same age from other Baysa clubs. This means that half of your games will be in places like Pearland, Friendswood, Clear Lake, Texas City, Galveston, Manvel, North Channel, East Lake, and Alvin. STYSA rules stipulate that each player, regardless of age, must play at least fifty percent (50%). Most players get more because of the size of the team.
9. What are my responsibilities?
You are expected to bring your children to all practices and games on time with all of the needed equipment. You will need to provide soccer shoes, an appropriate size ball (U5-U8 = size 3 ball, U9-U12 = size 4, U13+ = size 5), shin guards, and drinking water for every practice and game.
10. When do we play?
Most teams should start games in early September for Fall season. In-house teams (U5 & U6) may start a week or so later. Practice usually starts 3-4 weeks before the first game. Games for U14 and younger players are generally scheduled on Saturdays with the possible exception of making up a rained out game. Games for the older teams may be scheduled on both Saturdays and Sundays. In-house games usually begin between 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. and are played on Saturdays.
11. How many games will each team play?
The season will consist of between 8-10 games depending on the age groups. U5 & U6 will play an 8 game season while U7 & up play 10.
12. What do the different divisions mean?
Division IV – All players U10 and under play D4. Players must be 4 years old on July31, 2011 to play in the fall or spring.
Division II (Blue) is a competitive level of soccer. Division II soccer teams compete as club teams in the Bay Area Youth Soccer Association (BAYSA) program. Players must tryout to earn a position on Division II teams. Training is a part of Division II and usually will require additional fees. Teams do not have to qualify to play in the BAYSA Division II program. Playing time (50% per game) is a BAYSA rule.
Recreational teams (Red) or Division III do not require tryouts. They play their games within BAYSA and generally follow a format similar to the teams that the players were on as U10 age group. Players do not have to try-out to be on a red team.
13. Can my child play with his friend or neighbor?
Quest forms teams based talent scores. These scores are used to form teams.
14. When will a coach contact me?
Coaches usually get their rosters around August 1st (Fall) and Feb 1st (Spring). Parents should be expecting a call shortly after that time.
15. How do I become more involved with Quest?
Quest is always looking for volunteers. You can email any board member under contacts and they will get you in touch with the right person.
16. Is there financial assistant available?
The club has limited funds available for grants. Grants for registration fees will be awarded on a case-by-case basis. Grants are awarded based on 1) demonstrated financial hardship or 2) sudden acute need. Follow the link to the grant form Quest Grant Application.
